Are You a Chicken Without It's
Head?
© Terri Seymour
Have you ever heard the expression, "Running around like
a
chicken with it's head cut off!" Now, when I was a kid, we
used
to kill our own chickens and I know firsthand exactly
what
this means! ;-)
Do you jump from one place or project to another and feel
like you are never getting anything done? Do you rush
through
each day like a freight train trying to get all your work
done.
Family, home, business, work.........does it ever
end!!??!!
Life for most of us is pretty fast-paced and this can lead
to
problems both physically, and emotionally. What you need
to
do is "work smarter, not harder." I know we have all heard
that
one before and it is most definitely "easier said than done!" I
am
just full of them today, I guess! lol
One thing you need to do is make out a schedule (with room for
a
little flexibility) that will be used as a guideline. Don't
make the
mistake of writing out an extremely tight schedule and then
"frying
your brains," trying to stick to it. Not being able to follow
your
schedule can be frustrating to say the least, but preparing
a
flexible schedule makes it less stressful on you and everyone
else.
You should also have a "to do list" for each day. Write down
the
most important things that HAVE to get done that day,
followed
by the things that should get done that day and then things
that
have time or are a continuing effort.
For example:
Monday To Do List
Must Do - Write ezines, answer important email
Try To Do - Add more resources to site, arrange ad swaps
Continuing - Submit to directories
I always have a list like this right next to me on my desk
so
I know what needs to be done each day.
You also need to take some time for yourself. I have a
hard
time with this one and I am sure many others do as well.
You
feel like you just don't have the time to give yourself
this
luxury. But think of it this way, if you take this time
for yourself, you will be much more relaxed and refreshed
to get "more work done in less time!"
What you can also do to help get things done is delegate
the household chores. Give the kids each a few of the
everyday chores. This helps a lot! They might gripe and
groan, but it is good for them.
Working at home to me is a blessing, but it sometimes can
be very hard to keep everything (including yourself)
going.
You MUST have some kind of schedule and you MUST take
some time for yourself as well as your family! If you do
not,
your business will suffer and so will your family!
DO NOT feel guilty about stealing 30-60 minutes a day just
for
you. YOU deserve it and your family would probably agree!
